Over the weekend, I was fortunate enough to be provided entrance to A Current Affair, a two-day ticketed vintage market. The market takes place in LA and in NYC, so of course I headed to Industry City in Brooklyn on Saturday. What I love so much about vintage shopping is that you can go back in time and find clothing perfection. It also stimulates my creativity in bringing together old (thrift) and new (mint) – had to pull in the namesake – for future outfits.
This was just a portion of one side of the event! So much clothes, so many vendors!
Amarcord, a local hotspot for vintage designer items, was one of the vendors present where I found this gorgeous lace. It was in an off white color, maxi length. There were so many lookalikes yet this piece just caught my attention because of the immaculate detail and actually easy transition into modern times.
Morphew, another vintage designer shop, had some really cute sunnies in a small display.
My love for vintage Levi’s has led me through a manic search for the best fit. I’ve tried countless pairs and could not resist each and every vendor that had jeans on display. Here, People of 2morrow had a display of perfection. Jeans were laddered and on racks, along with that amazing slip dress.
Portia and Manny, another local vendor, also had a cute display of daily essentials – sweatshirts, t-shirts, and vintage Levi’s.
Ok, so completely out of my budget, but I pet this Chanel leather jacket for a good minute and a half. I also feel like I need that entire outfit, just for strolling around and looking professional, hah!
How cute is this jewelry display from Trustfund21? I checked out their Etsy shop and they have some great, affordable, options. Most items are below $60 and they have a ton of handbags, so I highly suggest checking them out!!
And finally, I only purchased three things. I saw many people with tons of bags and trust that could have been me. I just need to hone in on my spending for a bit! At Front General Store, they had a ton of Levi’s 501 jeans, a classic and very popular straight cut style. I love the frayed edges so much! I tried on three pairs and was surprised to find they fit so perfectly – vintage jeans are tricky since they have no stretch, and the sizing is not comparable to modern sizing. At Wayward Collection, another affordable find based on Etsy, I got a super cute neck scarf from the 50’s with a camel print, and amazing white mules.
This was such a fun shopping event to attend. I absolutely love shopping at thrift stores, and this vintage market was a perfect Saturday activity. When they’re back in town, I’m sure I’ll be heading back! If any of you went, share your fab finds!
