White… it’s actually a bold color to wear in the dead of NYC winter but I took the plunge for experimentation’s sake. Here’s the thing with winter whites – it’s not about dressing in stark white head to toe! To give contrast and add texture I had to mix up my fabrics and choose between white to beige. The monochromatic look in light to slightly dark shades brings interest to the outfit.
I’m wearing a white, oversized cocoon coat by Andrew Marc, a find from a previous sample sale which was below $100. I love that it’s oversized because I can really layer up below it to keep warm. The beanie is also Andrew Marc and oh so warm. This rose tee is a, well, bold look. And obviously the wide leg, high waist khaki pants by H&M (here’s a pair of similar pants) that I’m probably going to wear all year round!
Lastly one of the major highlights of this outfit was my discount Alexander Wang Emile bag! I love this carryall – I really needed something sturdy and stylish to drag all my school items with me, or even an outfit change for photo shoots (I’m a commuter, so huge bags are a must). This bag was actually below $200! Although not sold widely anymore since it’s a past season bag, you can still find it at The RealReal in other colors and materials!
While I might not wear an all-white look often, I was excited to wear this look and try something new. Let me know in the comments the out-of-the-box colors you’re wearing this year!
