Reason to love the holidays: an excuse to go ALL OUT with shine. I recently received the Laura Mercier Hidden Gems Eyeshadow palette, which features 10 jewel-tones shades and two matte shades. I definitely had to play around with this go figure out how to best work with it. First, work in small steps. Some of these are highly pigmented shades so you want to build the color and layer slowly. Some shades like Star Ruby, which is more glittery and powdery, will work better when your brush is sprayed with a setting spray and then pressed to the eyelid. With that, let’s get into the looks (with a few more products mentioned too!)
Look 1: Subtle Shine
If you’re like me and stay home with family, you may go for a muted look that’s still festive. I swept on Amber Spark all over the lid for a subtle yes shimmery look. I also pressed on a bit of Spirit for extra shine, and added Bone just below the eye brows.
When it comes to the rest of my makeup, my base and current holy grail is Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer. This is a matte and full-coverage foundation that isn’t too heavy on the skin. In case you’re wondering – I gave up on primers altogether and just used my Embryolisse moisturizer as a 2-in-1! For lips, I went with this gorgeous pinky coral by Dior, shade Panache. It goes on like a lip balm and is super hydrating.
Look 2: Jeweled Smokey
Time to go bold! I amped up the glitz and glamour here, and I think this can totally work for any holiday party. Here are the steps I took for the eyes:
- I swept on Turquoise Blaze over my eyelids and to the crease.
- Just at the crease, I blended Tiger’s Eye
- With my finger tip, I pressed on Amber Blaze at the center of the lid
- In the inner corners, I pressed on Spirit
- Bone was swept below the brows
- And finally, I placed Star Ruby below the lower lashline
You definitely need to use primer and I went with ol’faithful here – Urban Decay Primer Potion.
For lips I kept the shine going. I also received Laura Mercier’s Velour a Deux Lip Duo In Rose. These shades are very matte so I layered Jouer’s lip topper in Champagne Gold. As much as I love a mauve rose lip color, adding the gold on top took this to the next level!
