Millennials- grab a photo album (like actual one, not on your iPhone) and look no further for your next outfit inspiration. Case in point: the mom-style Bermuda short. You know, the one your mom wore with white cotton ankle socks and white tennis shoes at the zoo.
I personally have never been a fan or short-shorts. They ride up, the thigh chaffing is unbearable and you’ll stick to everything (leather and subway seating being the absolute worst.) Enter the Mom short: high-waisted, may or may not have pleats, Bermuda short length and khaki. It’s basically the elevated shorts of the summer, and I’ve even gotten away with wearing them to work. As a childless millennial, I’ve taken the liberty to swap the tennis shoes for heels. It feels sophisticated and grown up without losing the ‘90s inspiration.
Transition weather is upon us, so as fall starts I’m popping on a blazer and ankle boots.
What are some other trends you’re borrowing from your mom’s closet this year?
