As someone with a pear-shaped body, I often prefer mixing and matching my bikini sizes, can range anywhere from a 2-6 in tops and 4-6 in pants, and hardly ever form-fitting one-piece outfits. That being said, jumpsuits are generally tough for me. A lot of modern day jumpsuits really don’t offer me the fit I desire, so when I found the perfect boiler suit at a Brooklyn vintage shop, I immediately swiped my credit card.
So what exactly appealed to me about this vintage denim boiler suit? This classic 80s/90s fit: loose on top, reallyyyyy cinched at the waist, and pleated pants that are VERY forgiving and that slightly taper at the ankle. It just felt good, and that’s just how clothing should feel when you wear it.
But what I love most about a boiler suit is how you can contradict the total utilitarian feel into something new. Slap on a leather and chain belt, heels and a dope necklace and it’s the easiest, coolest outfit you’ll ever wear.

It’s like what I always say when it comes to vintage and thrift shopping, check out different stores and make sure to dig. While I find large department stores so intimidating because of all the merchandise, I find so much more entertainment and soul in sifting through rags of old clothing to find gems like this one. Interested in hitting up a brick-and-mortar? Check out some of my favorite vintage and thrift shop here.
Online, you’ll also have to do the dig, but I found a ton of options on Etsy, with vintage inspired looks by ASOS, Frame Denim, AGOLDE, and others. Find your favorite below!
