As we jump into 2019, I wanted to share a personal segment on my blog focused on my fitness journey. Over 2018, I’ve mentally beat myself up for the weight I’ve gained and how it affects my actions: From my clothing choices, to the pictures I choose for my blog, and even the events I decide to go to. NO. MORE. Next year (aka tomorrow), I am going to challenge myself to take on the actions that will lead me to a better place with my feelings about myself.
Today, the last day of 2018, I weigh 153 pounds.
This is really hard for me to share. First, because it puts it out into the world and it’s officially real. Second, because it’s the highest I’ve ever weighed. And no, it’s not bad, but my BMI is officially “overweight” and I can’t stand for that. My hope in sharing this is that I become accountable for my actions, and when I share my updates it highlights my progress (and hopefully moves in a positive direction).
The Plan
In January, I am planning quite a few things in the “fitness” realm:
- Upping my personal training sessions from once to twice a week
- Using a ClassPass free trial: I’m really getting into Y7 yoga classes so I definitely want to take advantage of my ClassPass free trial period to take more classes at their studios. (BTW – You can get your first month free too!! Click here to join ClassPass, which is available in NYC and other cities in the USA.)
- Hitting up my at-home treadmill for short, 30 minute workouts
As far as my diet plan, this isn’t set in stone but has the general “eat healthy” label over it. Essentially – more plants, fewer carbs and processed foods. What I do want to do is track what I am eating daily. I used to do this regularly and what I found was that that it would keep me accountable to exactly what I was eating every day. If I had a bad morning, I would make it up with a healthier dinner. Maybe I had a few too many calorie-heavy drinks the night prior? I would make sure to hydrate the next day.
My focus on Mint and Thrift is affordable fashion, so you know I’m going to share my athletic clothing (and where to find affordable versions!)
Lastly, I’m going to provide updates here answering what goals I accomplished. And if your goals for 2019 include health and wellness, I would love if you shared your progress with me too! I would love to hear from you and provide words of encouragement so make sure to comment below!
I plan to share updates on a monthly basis, so stay tuned in late January/early February for an update!
