As someone who gets migraines from time to time, I’ve identified my triggers. One of those triggers is scents. Because of this, perfumes and other fragrances are a bit tough to shop for. Sure – you have all kinds of hyped up luxury fragrances but those are so often triggering. To identify a few fragrances that won’t trigger a migraine, I’ve teamed up with Scentbird.
Scentbird is a monthly perfume subscription box that gets you a generous 30-day supply of a designer scent. What I enjoy about this is that you can try out a new scent until you find your favorite! No need to spend $50+ on a full-size bottle of perfume, since Scentbird is only $14.95 per month!
A note: Certain scents may trigger you more than others. I share these fragrances based on recommendations from Scentbird, and I truly did enjoy them!
Violette
Molinard
The perfumers of Grasse, France know how to build a fragrance. The fun Violette plays heavily on violet petals scent, with major notes of bergamot and base notes of iris and musk.
You
Glossier
Glossier’s award winning You is on the stronger side but for some reason, I am in love with it! I usually only spritz on pulse points like the inside of my wrists and neck, and I find less is better with this fragrance.
Centuries Verbena
Caswell-Massey
I seriously enjoy this simple, clean scent that’s perfect for everyday. What I love about this scent is that it is unisex and it’s one note: Verbena. Don’t know what it could smell like? My quick research shows a citrusy scent with herbal notes. It’s very much a down-to-earth event.
MMMM…
Juliette has a gun
This scent literally made me say “MMMM…” prior to even looking at the name. I’ve developed an affinity towards scents with notes of neroli and Juliette has a gun DID.NOT.DISAPPOINT. Add the bottom notes of sandalwood and patchouli and I may have found my new signature scent.
Honestly, Scentbird is the way to go to get the real thing at a crazy affordable price. This scent retails at $28 on Sephora for a 7.5mL bottle (Scentbird is $14.95/month for 8mL!)
The true test here was whether I started to feel that pinchy gnawing just above the brow that indicates the very first signs of a migraine after taking deep whiffs of these perfumes. Triggers have been avoided and I’m feeling (and smelling) good!
