If you’ve ever been scared to wear a crop top, here are my words of encouragement – YOU CAN! These teeny tops have exploded, and in due time for summer. Here’s the thing – crop tops don’t need to be scary. I personally have felt that initial resistance – with questions such as “am I skinny/toned enough?” running through my head – but grew to like crop tops and own a few! Here’s how I learned to embrace this
Fit
I have actually owned this top from Urban Outfitters for nearly 3 years now and wore it for the first time this summer! I swear I’m stuck in my quarter life crisis, so my mindset is that there is no better time than now to take fashion risks. I’m discovering that cropped tops can be super figure flattering, especially when the top cinches at the smallest part of the waist. Find a crop top that is a compromise between a bralette and a baby tee for the best length.
Go Feminine
I often feel intimidated by “sexy” outfits. It helps to add girly details – lace, floral embroidery, or even a cute vintage silhouette makes for a unique look that isn’t just a short tee shirt.
What to Wear it With
Here’s how to make it easier to wear a crop top: Wear high waist bottoms.
Showing my belly button isn’t my thing, especially if I’m not at my goal weight. Enter the high waist pants. With crop tops, I love wide leg, high waisted pants. I feel this pulls the attention of your bare midriff and instead to your entire outfit. Alternatively, a pair of paper bag shorts or a flowy skirt would work great!!
