One of my biggest pet peeves: workwear. Stiff blazers, pencil skirts, and pit stained blouses are what my nightmares are made of. I have fortunately worked in environments where business professional clothing was not necessary, but as a young professional it’s important to have the basics. This time, however, I wanted to put it to the test – could I wear a professional button down shirt over the weekend?
Let’s check off that box as YES with the Easier than Silk shirt by Ministry. Here’s what makes Ministry different: originally a menswear collection that made the traditional suit suitable for travel (and even marathon running), Ministry surveyed women to learn more about the frustrations with blouses. The Easier than Silk shirt was created in response – using the same kinetic fibers as the menswear, this blouse was developed to get you the perfect fit, without gaping between the buttons, and isn’t just business formal. Whether you are traveling for work, leisure, or both, this is the one top to take with you.
What I most like about this shirt is that it’s flexible – it moves with you, stretches, and best of all… it’s machine washable. As someone who loves an affordable find, clothing that doesn’t require dry cleaning is a major plus. At $85, the Easier than Silk button down is certainly not the cheapest, but its classic style and versatility will last the test of time. Again – I’m not a workwear person so if I can pull together a casual outfit I’m a happy camper. For summer, I’m mixing it up with a pair of loose, belted shorts and a boater hat. Oddly, it brings me back to Cuba.
